Meet me.
Let's start with, my name is Carla, though I'm often called Ginger.
I am a self-taught baker, formally trained nurse. I was raised in NFLD by the most amazing mom and dad who instilled in me the power of hospitality. My mom loved others with food and that now runs deep within me. I graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing and have made a career out of caring for others for over 20 years.
I love to entertain.
If you come for dinner, I will create a beautiful tablescape, because you eat with your eyes first. I want you to feel spoiled...decadent.
My creative side has always been feed with my love for design and decorating and that has now become a growing baking business. My husband, daughter and I settled in Okotoks just over 15yrs ago and it has been home since we arrived. I love the sense of community this small town gives. It has been a great place to raise our daughter and to run a business.
My passion is creating baked goods that not only look good, they have to taste great. I don’t believe in wasting calories. My desire is that every part of your indulgence will stimulate all your senses. Because food makes memories, and I want all of your memories to be amazing! I want you to feel nostalgic with every bite, like a warm hug. My hope is that every bite will take you home. Home isn’t a place, it’s a feeling. A feeling we all crave of acceptance and security. For me, it’s all about the details. Every part of the experience is important, right down to the packaging.
It is a complete honour to be part of your celebrations. Designing a cake is like writing a letter. You want to express how much you feel and make sure the person knows they are loved and appreciated.
I am team buttercream all the way. I rarely use fondant and prefer to stay away from heavy food colouring. I love the art of elegant, timeless design.
